i. 動(dòng)名詞作主語(yǔ)和表語(yǔ)

Seeing is believing.

眼見(jiàn)為實(shí)。

Saying is easier than doing.

說(shuō)比做容易。

Her job is keeping the hall as clean as possible.

她的工作是盡量保持大廳整潔。

Reading is learning , but applying is also learning and the more important kind of learning.

讀書(shū)是學(xué)習(xí)，使用也是學(xué)習(xí)而且是更重要的學(xué)習(xí)。

1. 名詞use, good, pity, time, fun, bore, a waste of time, worth（形容詞）等作表語(yǔ)時(shí)，常用it作形式主語(yǔ)而把真正的主語(yǔ)動(dòng)名詞后置：

It is no use waiting for him; he won't come.

等他沒(méi)用，他不會(huì)來(lái)的。

It is no good staying up so late every evening.

每天晚上熬夜是沒(méi)有好處的。

It is a waste of time talking about it here.

在這里談?wù)撍抢速M(fèi)時(shí)間。

2. “there is no +動(dòng)名詞”結(jié)構(gòu)相當(dāng)于It is impossible to do sth.,此時(shí)動(dòng)名詞通常帶有賓語(yǔ)。

There's no joking about such matters.

對(duì)這樣的事情沒(méi)有玩笑可言。

There's no getting along well with him.

不可能和他相處好。

There's no hiding of the evil but not to do it.

要想人不知除非己莫為。

3. 用于布告形式的省略結(jié)構(gòu)中，意義上相當(dāng)于祈使句。動(dòng)名詞通常不帶賓語(yǔ)。

No smoking ！ = Don't smoke.

不許抽煙。

No parking ! = Don't park.

不許停車。
