2. 某些表示群島、山脈、瀑布的專有名詞往往作復數(shù)用，作主語時謂語動詞用復數(shù)。

喜馬拉雅山脈位于亞洲。

3. 以復數(shù)形式出現(xiàn)的表示書籍、報紙、雜志的專有名詞一般視為單數(shù)，作主語時謂語動詞用單數(shù)。

The New York Times is a popular paper.

紐約時報是很受歡迎的報紙。

4. 以復數(shù)形式出現(xiàn)的表示同姓的一家人或同名、同姓的若干人的名詞作主語，謂語動詞用復數(shù)。

The Smiths are leaving for Paris tomorrow.

There're two Marys and three Roberts in my class.
