2,500 leaders from business, government and civil society are in Davos for the WorldEconomic Forum Annual Meeting. The theme is a call to action for decision-makers to use the opportunity of the five-day Meeting to "Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild". Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, will deliver
the opening address in a plenary session following the traditional welcome by the Swiss President, Doris Leuthard. Leaders will participate in over 200 working sessions on topics including Haiti, the Millennium Development Goals, the environment and the economy.

世界經(jīng)濟(jì)論壇(World Economic Forum,簡(jiǎn)稱WEF),1971年由瑞士日內(nèi)瓦大學(xué)教授克勞斯·施瓦布(Klaus Schwab)倡議創(chuàng)建,總部設(shè)在瑞士日內(nèi)瓦。WEF是瑞士的一個(gè)獨(dú)立非官方機(jī)構(gòu),旨在研究和探討世界經(jīng)濟(jì)領(lǐng)域存在的問(wèn)題,促進(jìn)國(guó)際經(jīng)濟(jì)合作與交流。
