　　W: Why not speak to her face to face?

　　C: She studies in another city. We could only meet each other during vacations.

　　在英語對話中，同樣的話用不同的語調可以表達不同的含義。如Clive聽到Wendy叫他，但不知道找他

　　有什么事，所以用升調表示需要對方回答。類似的情況有：

　　A: Nancy, could you open the door for me?

　　B：Sorry?

　　B用升調說Sorry表明他沒有聽清A剛才說的話。如果用降調，則表示B無能為力，沒法幫A開門。

　　再如：

　　We win.如果用降調，表示陳述事實。如果用升調，則表示對這件事存有懷疑。
