General Information 基本概況

Taiyuan University of Technology can have its history traced all the way back
to Western Learning School of National Shanxi Grand Academy.which was
established in 1902 as one of the earliest universities in China.With the
history of 100 years，it is now a modern general university，which is majored in
engineering，conjoined by engineering and sciences，and harmonized with many
disciplines such as sciences，engineering，liberal arts，administration，
economics,law, physical education，arts and military affairs. Taiyuan University
of Technology is the only university in Shanxi Province that is nominated as one
of the top 100 universities in“Project 211”and also one of the five state key
universities in Central China.

太原理工大學前身是創(chuàng)立于1902年的國立山西大學堂西學專齋，是我國最早成立的三所國立大學之一。經(jīng)過百余年的傳承與發(fā)展，學校已建設(shè)成為一所以工為主，理工結(jié)合，理、工、文、管、經(jīng)、法、體、美、軍等多學科協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展的高等學府，是山西省唯一一所國家“211工程”重點建設(shè)大學，也是國家中部地區(qū)重點建設(shè)的五所高校之一。

The university is of Shanxi Province.situated by the beautiful Fenhe River in
Taiyuan，the capital city It has the total area of 105 hectares with constructed
area of Ran thousand square meters.

太原理工大學位于山西省會太原市美麗的汾河畔，占地面積105公頃，建筑面積87萬平方米。

This university consists of 20 colleges offering 353 undergraduate
disciplines，78 master s degree programs，25 second-grade doctorate programs，4
first-grade doctorate programs，5 post-doctor research centers，2 national key
disciplines,9 provincial key disciplines and 8 provincial supported disciplines
al) of which are playing a leading role in the scientific research in the
university.

學校有20個專業(yè)學院，設(shè)有353個本科專業(yè)，78個碩士點，25個二級學科博士學位授權(quán)點，4個一級學科博士學位授權(quán)點，5個博士后科研流動站，2個國家級重點學科，9個省市級重點學科，以及8個省支持學科，在學校科研中發(fā)揮引導(dǎo)作用。

The university pays great emphasis on scientific research. It has 1 state key
laboratory，14 key laboratories at the provincial-ministry level，1 state
engineering center，8 state bases of basic disciplines for talent cultivation and
scientific research，1 education base of cultural quality and 6 key research
bases of the Ministry of Education for humanities and social sciences.

學校非常重視科學研究，一個國家重點實驗室，14個省部級重點實驗室，一個國家工程中心，8個國家基礎(chǔ)學科人才培養(yǎng)和科學研究基地，一個文化素質(zhì)教育基地，6個教育部人文社會科學重點研究基地。

Taiyuan University of Technology has a strong faculty of more than 1 800
fulltime teaching staff, including over 1 000 full and associate professors，59
doctoral supervisors，7 middle-age experts with outstanding contributions at the
national leve1，2 recipients of the State Outstanding Youth Foundation，over 100
recipients of special subsidies from the central government, 4 scientific heroes
of Shanxi Province，10 Excellent Experts at the provincial level，12 Outstanding
College Lecturers at the provincial level and nearly 100 well-known scholars
both at home and abroad are nominated honorary or guest professors.

學校師資力量雄厚，現(xiàn)有專任教師1 800余名，其中教授、副教授等高級專業(yè)技術(shù)人員1
000余名，博士生導(dǎo)師59名，國家級有突出貢獻的中青年專家7名，國家杰出青年基金獲得者2名，100余名教授享受政府特殊津貼，山西省科技功臣4名，省級優(yōu)秀專家10名，省級教學名師12名，近100名國內(nèi)外著名學者被聘為名譽教授或客座教授。

At present，there are over20 000 undergraduates，4 511 master's degree and Ph.
D. students studying at the university.

太原理工大學目前共有本科生2萬余人，其中4 511名全職碩士、博士生。
