acquaintance就是熟人、相識的意思。

And an acquaintance is someone that you know well but not well enough to call them a friend.

當你想表達和一個人認識，但又沒有那么熟以至于可以互稱為朋友的時候就可以這樣說。

This is why you should never say to a western person in the street， "Would you like to be my friend?" that makes foreigners very uncomfortable.

如果你在街上見到一個老外就說 "Would you like to be my friend?" 就會使當場的氣氛非常尷尬，也會弄的他非常不舒服，所以千萬要弄清楚friend和

acquaintance的區(qū)別。
