Go whole hog是一個俚語,起源于十七世紀的英國。當時的英國稱一個先令(shilling)為一個hog,而一個hog能買不少東西,go whole hog就是一次把一個先令全部花完,一點不剩。后來引申為“徹底完成某事,全力以赴完成某事”。表示去徹底或全力以赴去完成某事,在短語的后面用介詞in,即為:go the whole hogin doing something or something。
