A: One day when we were at a dance, Mary said thatshe wanted to have a good talk with me.

有一天在跳舞的時候，瑪麗說想要和我好好談談。

B: She was up to no good, I suppose. What did shesay to you?

我猜他沒有什么好事，她跟你說什么呢?

A: She said that she wanted to help me to make afortune.

她說她想幫我賺大錢。

B: What did you say? Did you fall for her fast talk?

那你怎么說?你信了她的花言巧語嗎?

A: Of course not. I didn’t want to be the one used by her.

才不會了，我不會被他利用的。

fast talk

1. 解詞釋義

Fast在美國俚語中有“圓滑的，油嘴滑舌的，靠不住的，騙人的”的意思。Fast talk這個名詞短語的意思即為：花言巧語。

2. 拓展范例

e.g. All her fast talk were not enough to persuade them to sell the property.

她花言巧語也未能打動他們賣掉物業(yè)。

e.g. He dusted her eyes with his fast talk.

他用花言巧語蒙騙了她。

e.g. He gave us his fast talk about how he needed money to get home.

他花言巧語地大談他如何急需錢回家。

e.g. It was the most ancient and serviceable type of fast talk, often used before and oftensuccessful.

第三， 咬文嚼字

at a dance：在舞會上

e.g. I think Jack picked Mary up at a dance.

e.g. He got off with a nurse at the dance.

have a talk with sb. ：和……談話

e.g. He looks like he's got an axe to grind. Better have a talk with him.

他看來是牢騷滿腹, 你最好找他談談。

e.g. He was going to have a talk with me about this matter and attempt to get the thing inperspective.

他準備和我談談這件事，設法弄出個頭緒來。

up to no good：不懷好意

e.g. Where' s that naughty child now ? I' m sure he' ll be up to no good wherever he is.

那調(diào)皮孩子哪兒去了? 我看, 他到哪兒也做不出好事來。

e.g. The teacher was sure that the boys were up to no good, because they ran when they sawher coming.

老師確信那幾個男孩子正在搗蛋，因為他們一見她過來，拔腿就跑。

make a fortune：發(fā)財，賺大錢

e.g. I am pleased to hear that you are about to make a fortune.

很高興聽到你即將賺大錢。

e.g. The film didn't make a fortune, but it broke even.

那部電影沒有賺大錢，但是沒有虧損。
