Chinese pop singer Li Yuchun is helping to spearheada new fund to help children with leukaemia.

中國(guó)流行歌手李宇春正在建立一個(gè)新的基金來(lái)幫助患有白血病的兒童。

The winner of the Super Girl singing contest lastyear has been chosen as the ambassador for the "YuMi Loving Fund" of the Chinese Red CrossFoundation(CRCF). It is designed to raise money forChina's impoverished leukaemia stricken children, whose families are burdened by expensivemedical bills and can do little but wait to die.

去年超級(jí)女聲冠軍被選為中國(guó)紅十字基金會(huì) (CRCF)的“玉米愛(ài)心基金”的大使。“玉米愛(ài)心基金”是一個(gè)自愿為中國(guó)貧困的白血病孩子籌集資金的組織。這些患兒的家庭面對(duì)昂貴的醫(yī)藥費(fèi)，除了坐以待斃，其他的什么也做不了。

Around 160 fans of Li came from all over the country, including some from HongKong, toparticipate in the ceremony for the launch of the fund in Beijing. The fans, including teenagers, middle-aged and elderly people, vied with one another to put donations into a big red box,and then got a T-shirt as a souvenir from the hands of Li. Some of them even donated manytimes, contributing all the money in their wallets, to get more chances to get up close to theiridol.

全國(guó)各地的160多位李宇春的歌迷(玉米)，包括一些香港歌迷參加了在北京舉辦的發(fā)起儀式。這些玉米包括十幾歲的青年，中年，老年人，他們爭(zhēng)先恐后的將捐贈(zèng)品放入一個(gè)紅色的大盒子，李宇春送給每人一件T恤，作為紀(jì)念。一些人連續(xù)捐了許多次，把他們錢(qián)包里的錢(qián)都捐出來(lái)了，為的是得到更多接近他們的偶像的機(jī)會(huì)。

"Li Yuchun has unimaginable influence among Chinese people, however young or old, male orfemale," said Wang Rupeng, general-secretary of CRCF. He said his foundation had invited Lito serve as the image spokeswoman for the "Little Angel Fund," that is also designed to helppoor children with leukaemia late last year.

中國(guó)紅十字基金會(huì)秘書(shū)長(zhǎng)王汝鵬說(shuō)：“無(wú)論男女老少，李字春在中國(guó)人心中擁有超乎想象的影響力。”他還說(shuō)，他的基金會(huì)邀請(qǐng)李宇春當(dāng)“小天使基金”的形象代言人，該基金也是用于去年下半年幫助貧困的白血病兒童的。

"When the news was published, the website of CRCF was soon jammed and broke down manytimes as too many fans piled up to donate money on the request of their idol." Wang recalled.

王回憶說(shuō)“當(dāng)發(fā)布了這個(gè)消息后，中國(guó)紅十字基金會(huì)網(wǎng)站的點(diǎn)擊率馬上暴漲，網(wǎng)頁(yè)需要不斷刷屏才能打開(kāi)，因?yàn)樘嗟母杳皂憫?yīng)他們偶像的號(hào)召，爭(zhēng)先恐后地要捐款。”

"The telephone lines of my foundation were also engaged all the time as those who could notlog on to the Web asked us how to send their money via remittance. "Many fans even traveled along distance to go to the foundation with their donations."

“我們基金會(huì)的電話也一直很忙，因?yàn)槟切┐虿婚_(kāi)網(wǎng)頁(yè)的人都打電話來(lái)咨詢匯款方式。許多玉米曾經(jīng)不遠(yuǎn)萬(wàn)里親自到基金會(huì)來(lái)捐贈(zèng)。”

At present, CRCF has received more than 6000 donations from fans totaling400000yuan(US$50000). The donations have been helping 31 poor children hit by leukaemia,Wang said. "given the huge influence of Li, CRCF decided to set up the special YuMi LovingFund, hoping that more fans can take part in the charity move." Wang said.

王說(shuō)，目前，中國(guó)紅十字基金會(huì)已經(jīng)從玉米那里收到 6，000多筆捐贈(zèng)，總計(jì)40萬(wàn)元人民幣(約5萬(wàn)多美元)。這些捐贈(zèng)已經(jīng)投入使用，正在幫助 31個(gè)白血病患兒。因?yàn)槔钭执旱木薮笥绊懥?，中?guó)紅十字基金會(huì)決定成立“玉米愛(ài)心基金”，希望有更多玉米加入到慈善團(tuán)隊(duì)中來(lái)。

Li, the 22-year-old, who wore little make up for the launch, said at the ceremony, "It does notneed many words here. Let us take action."

今年22歲的李宇春身穿專門(mén)為這次活動(dòng)設(shè)計(jì)的衣服，出席了儀式并號(hào)召：“這里不需要太多的語(yǔ)言，讓我們行動(dòng)起來(lái)吧。”
