20多年來的現(xiàn)實生活給予我一個深刻的教訓：不管是在我們的學習，工作還是生活中，要學會融入這些群體，學會和人打交道，學習、事業(yè)和生活才可能成功，孤軍作戰(zhàn)是失敗的。那么在打交道的時候，就得具有合作的意識，具有團隊的意識。哪怕順著別人的拍子走，吃點虧也不要在乎。特別是當我們共同處于困難的境地時，就更需要具有合作的團隊精神，同舟共濟，共度難關。這時候，我們大家都會說這樣一句話：“我們是同一條船上的人。”

今天我們就來看看這句話的意思在英文中如何表達。我們先來聽下面的2個句子：

?If you lose your job I'll lose mine, so we are both in the same boat.

?We wage earners are all in the same boat during these hard days.

在我們剛才聽到的2個例句中，我們都可以聽到同一個詞語：in the same boat。這是一條介詞性習慣用語。習語中的same是“同樣的”的意思，boat是指“船”。In the same boat字面意思就是“在同一條船上”，比喻為“in the same unpleasant situation as other people”的意思，譯為“同樣的不幸處境”“共患難”等等。剛才我們說了這是一條介詞性習慣用語，當然是做方式狀語，像我們常說的“同舟共濟”就可以用到這個習語，即：cross a river in the same boat。要做謂語就要和系動詞連用，即：to be in the same boat。

我們再通過四個例句來體會這個習語的意思和運用這個習語：

1.She's always complaining that she doesn't have enough money, but we're all in the same boat.

譯文：她總是不停地抱怨她的錢不夠多，但是我們也是如此呀。

2.If he loses his job he'll be in the same boat as any other unemployed person.

譯文：如果他失業(yè)，他就和其他沒有工作的人一樣處境艱難。

注解：be in the same boat as sb：和某人同命相連，和某人一樣處于不好的境地

3.I don't know why you're complaining that you have to pay more, we're all in the same boat.

譯文：我不知道你為什么要抱怨你多付一些，我們現(xiàn)在是難兄難弟。

4.When we come up against difficulties, we should cross a river in the same boat.

譯文：當我們遇到困難，我們應該同舟共濟。

注解：come up against：(突然或意外地)遇到苦難 再如：We expect to come up against a lot of opposition to the scheme.我們預計這個計劃要遭到很多人反對。He often came up against the problem of money. 他那時常常碰到錢的問題。

我們現(xiàn)在知道我們最初聽到的2個例句的意思，現(xiàn)在我們就回到它們當中來看看它們的意思。

?If you lose your job I'll lose mine, so we are both in the same boat.

這句話是說：如果你失業(yè)，我也失業(yè)，所以我們倆處境一樣。

?We wage earners are all in the same boat during these hard days.

這句話是說：在這些艱難的歲月里，我們干活掙錢的人命運相同。

注解：wage earner：靠工資為生的人 hard days：苦日子，艱苦的歲月

我們今天的這招說“Cooperation”(合作)——in the same boat，意思是“同樣不幸的處境”“共患難”。我們中文中說“我們同在一條船上”，也是表示我們處于同樣的處境，這樣就需要我們pull ourselves together and work together to cross the river in the same boat(振作精神，協(xié)力工作，同舟共濟，共度難關)。
